British Values

Celebrating British Values at St James' Church Of England and Nursery and Infant School

Core aspects of British values are promoted throughout the curriculum in our school and they are integrated at an age appropriate way from our nursery through to Year 2.

The British Values of democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs are an integral part of school life.

Our school values of Grateful, Respect, Our Best and Welcoming lend themselves well and support British Values.

As a Church of England School we use Christian Scripture and Scripture from other world faiths to support our school values and also to teach and model the British Values. This may be in the form of sharing parables from the New Testament or sharing teachings from the Quran.

From time to time theme days and theme weeks may be used to focus further on a particular value for example: Worship Week is a whole school week which focusses highly on mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and for those without faith.
